Clothing
Here are suggestions and recommendations for what to wear at the wedding! We created a full, in-depth outfit guide here if you want more details.

Wedding Attire
There are many options for clothing at an Indian wedding! Feel free to wear either Indian or Western clothes for any event. To summarize, there are 4 main events and you should have outfits for each – 2 events are casual (Mehendi and Haldi) and 2 are formal (Sangeet and the final ceremony). Overall, pick clothes that are comfortable to dance in, that are good for warm weather, and feel free to go bold with color!

Things to Avoid
-
Tap water – Drink only bottled or RO (reverse osmosis) filtered water. Use bottled water even for brushing your teeth. Please note that the drinking water during the wedding will be filtered, or bottled water will be provided.
-
Ice – Skip it unless you're sure it's made from filtered water. Please note that the ice during the wedding will be made from filtered water!
-
Raw fruits & vegetables – Only eat peeled fruits (like bananas) or those washed in filtered water. It's best to avoid salads at most places.
-
Street food – Choose busy, clean-looking vendors where the food is cooked fresh and hot. If you want to be extra cautious, then avoid street food.
-
Isolated areas at night – India is generally safe, but it's best to be extra cautious and stick to well-populated areas at night.
-
Mosquitoes – Use repellent, especially at dusk and in areas near water. Consider wearing long sleeves/pants in the evening. Indian brand mosquito repellent is called Odomos, which we recommend buying when you arrive.
-
Overexertion in heat – Take it easy, stay hydrated, and wear light, breathable clothes.
Extra Tips
-
It is a good idea to get travel insurance with medical coverage.
-
Stay hydrated! (with bottled water only)
-
Carry small change for bottled water and restrooms.
-
Always wear sunscreen!
-
Keeping it modest with dress and public displays of affection is encouraged as it's the social norm.
